Polina Lapkovskaja is a German musician and performance artist born in the Soviet Union in 1982. Lapkovskaja moved to Germany in 1993 and studied jazz double bass at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium. Initially known as a performance artist in Munich, Lapkovskaja performed under the pseudonym âKoshka Valeriankaâ and collaborated with ensembles such as Munk, Kamerakino, and Convertible. Their band Pollyester released the debut album POLLYester (2007), followed by Earthly Powers (2011) and City of O. (2015). Lapkovskaja composed stage music for theatrical productions including Geschichten aus dem Wiener Wald (2014) and Clavigo (2015). They received the Förderpreis Musik der Landeshauptstadt München (2013) and the Bayerischer Kunstpreis (2025).
