Biography

Piramis, a Hungarian hard rock band, was formed in 1974 by bassist Lajos Som, drummer MiklÃ³s KÃ¶ves, and guitarist JÃ¡nos ZÃ¡vodi. The group initially focused on instrumental music but soon added keyboardist PÃ©ter Gallai as the vocalist. Their first single "A becsÃ¼let Ã©s" / "SzÃ¡llj fel magasra!" was released in 1976 and became a significant success. The band's debut album Piramis followed in 1977, winning them a public award at the MetronÃ³m '77 Festival for their song "Ãgni kell annak, aki gyÃºjtani akar". Subsequent albums include Piramis 2 (1978)., Piramis 3 (1979), and Erotica (1981). In 1982, Som and KÃ¶ves were arrested for gold smuggling, effectively disbanding the group. Piramis reunited in 1992 and again in 2006, with RÃ©vÃ©sz returning to the lineup. The band continued under various names and lineups until Gallai's death in 2019.
