Biography

Petitmoni was a Japanese idol group formed in 1999 as the second sub-unit from Morning Musume under Hello! Project. The original lineup featured Kei Yasuda, Sayaka Ichii, and Maki Goto. Their debut single, "Chokotto LOVE", was released on November 25, 1999, and became a massive hit—topping the Oricon charts for two consecutive weeks, selling over a million copies, and setting a record as the best-selling Japanese single by a female trio. Following Ichii’s departure in 2000, Hitomi Yoshizawa joined the group. The second single, ”Seisyun Jidai 1.2.3!/baiseko-daiseikou!" also reached Number one. Later members included Makoto Ogawa and Ayaka from Coconuts Musume, forming the third generation. Although new songs were announced in 2002, most were delayed or unreleased, with "WOW WOW WOW" only surfacing on a compilation album in 2003. The unit became semi-dormant after 2004, occasionally reuniting for Hello! Project concerts with various lineups. Their last new recording was in 2003, but classic hits continued to be performed until the members officially graduated from Hello! Project in 2009.
