Checkicco, also known as CXCO, was a Japanese idol group formed in 1998 and active until their disbandment in 1999. Composed of twenty members, each assigned an "ID" number, Checkicco was founded by producer Yasushi Akimoto, modeled after his previous group Onyanko Club from the 1980s. The group made its debut with the single "æ±ãããã¦" in December 1998 and released their first album CXCO on July 7, 1999. Notable singles include "ã¯ãã¾ã" (March 3, 1999) and "æåã®ãã¢ã" (May 26, 1999). Checkicco also presented several sub-groups such as CHEE'S and METAMO but despite their efforts, the group did not achieve significant success. They released a total of six singles and two albums during their short career, with Best Memories being their final album on October 20, 1999. Checkicco was officially disbanded after just one year in November 3, 1999, but some members continued in the music industry, notably Mikuni Shimokawa who began her solo career in 1999. The group briefly reunited for a performance on August 9, 2004, marking their last official appearance together.
