Biography

Peter Lipa was born on May 30, 1943, in Prešov, Slovak Republic. Lipa is a jazz singer and composer who developed a unique vocal style focused on lyrics. In the 1980s, he released the albums Neúprosné ráno (1983) and Je to stále tak (1987). Subsequent releases include Blues Office (1988), Naspäť na stromy (1995), and Beatles in Blue(s) (2003). Three of his studio albums—Naspäť na stromy (1995), ...v najlepších rokoch (2001), and Lipa spieva Lasicu (2005)—are listed among The 100 Greatest Slovak Albums of All Time. Awards include the ZAI Award for Producer of the Year (1994) and several Aurel Awards (2005).
