Patrick Kelly, born in 1905 in Cree, County Clare, Ireland, was an Irish fiddle-player and teacher. He learned to play at a young age during the heyday of American Wakes and house dances. His style was influenced by Kerry fiddler George Whelan and Danny Mescal, who acted as his teachers and mentors. Kelly specialized in music set in 12/8 pieces and taught in Cree and its surroundings, passing on the Foxhunters Reel. He tuned his fiddle in GDGD to use droning and double stopping. Kelly's discography includes Ceol an Clair, Vol. I (CCÃ CL 17), recorded with Junior Crehan, Bobby Casey, Joe Ryan, and John Kelly by Seamus Mac Mathuna, and Pat Kelly, a recording from the 1960s restored by his son. He married Margaret "Dilly" Golden around 1930, and they had seven children.
