Klaus Schønning, born in 1954 in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a Danish musician known for his contributions to new-age music. Schønning began composing music at a young age and studied at the University of Copenhagen. His early breakthrough came when he independently released his first two albums, Lydglimt (1979) and Cyclus (1980), distributing them by bike to local record shops due to the lack of label interest in the new-age genre. This initiative led to his eventual signing with major labels like Sony Music. Throughout his career, Schønning released numerous albums, including Nasavu (1982), Locrian Arabesque (1985), and Arctic Light (1987). Notable releases include the Symphodyssé series (1988-1992) and Wellness series (2006-2008). Schønning also composed soundtracks, such as for the film Papua New Guinea (2014).
