Pape Gnepo was born on April 9, 1974 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. At the age of ten, he joined a Christian music choir, where he remained for the next five years. In 1993, he made his real musical debut, training with woyo and zouglou groups. Pape Gnepo joined Tenzo in 1994, Nsoleh in 1995 and Zoheyi in 1996. The following year, he helped found the Attoungblan Choir, then in 2000 Les Ãtoiles du Ki-Yi, an offshoot of the troupe founded in 1985 by Werewere Liking, with whom he shares his life. In the village of Ki-Yi M'Bock, a cultural and artistic center combining theater, dance, singing, ballet and painting, Pape Gnepo, who has become an influential figure in Abidjan's cultural life, is also behind the creation of the "Campement des stars", a place for exchange between established artists and amateurs. Singer, choreographer and percussionist, Pape Gnepo first recorded an album in 1998 with Boni Gnahoré and the Attoungblan Choir, Pedou, then in 2002, with Péhoula Zerehoué and the Ãtoiles du Ki-Yi, he put the finishing touches to the album Karim . Two years later, with Ki-Yi Mbock, he recorded Sogolon . Under his own name, Pape Gnepo released the album Ensemble, Ãa Va Aller in 2004 , followed by the faith-influenced album Par la Grâce de Dieu, Ãa Va! in 2009, featuring the tracks "Fête du campement", "Fanhan", "Ãa va", "Seigneur Jésus" and "Monde dans le monde".
