Biography

Afro-zouk musician and singer Fifi Rafiatou, whose real name is Djariatou Adjayi, was born in Atakpamé, Togo, in 1965. At the age of eight, she began singing in the church choir. Her destiny took shape when, at the age of 16, she took part in a competition organized by Radio Lomé and won. Her first album, Nwassa, was released in 1987. Her voice is set to Afro-pop, Togolese salsa, reggae... She quickly exported this culture beyond the borders of Togo and even Africa. Fifi Rafiatou tours all over the world. Between tours, Fifi Rafiatou recorded albums, Djofé: Laissez-moi faire (1990), Motus (1995), which included "Sambrima". Fifi Rafiatou dropped off the recording radar for a few years, before returning with a hard-hitting, militantly pro-peace track, "Message Aux Nations Unies", on the album Le Défi (2008). She then moved to Germany before settling in France, returning in 2022 with "La Solitude " and in 2023 with "Sannois la belle" .
