Biography
Oxbow, an American experimental rock band from San Francisco, California, was founded in 1988 by Eugene S. Robinson and Niko Wenner as a recording project. Their debut album, Fuckfest, released in 1989, garnered critical acclaim for its unique avant-rock approach. The band's lineup included Dan Adams, Greg Davis, Tom Dobrov, and Bart Thurber over the years. Notable albums include King of the Jews (1991), Let Me Be a Woman (1995), and Serenade in Red (1996) featuring Marianne Faithfull. Oxbow's 2007 album, The Narcotic Story, was named the Number One album of 2007 by Rock-A-Rolla magazine. Their albums, Thin Black Duke (2017) and Loveâs Holiday (2023), were produced by Joe Chiccarelli and Niko Wenner. On July 7, 2024, Robinson announced his departure from the band, effectively disbanding Oxbow.
