Ougenweide, a German folk-rock band, was founded in Hamburg in 1970. Their debut album, Ougenweide, produced by Achim Reichel and released in 1973, marked their breakthrough. The band's early repertoire focused on medieval lyrics and poems, including works by Walther von der Vogelweide. Notable albums from this period include All die weil ich mag (1974) and Ohrenschmaus (1976), which featured hits like "Im Badehaus" and "Pferdesegen (Contra Uermes)". Ougenweide gained prominence through extensive touring and collaborations, including performances at major festivals. Their live album Ungezwungen, released in 1977, solidified their reputation as a dynamic live act. The band's later albums shifted towards more rock-oriented sounds with socially critical lyrics, leading to a decline in popularity and eventual disbandment.
