Biography

Osanna, an Italian rock band originating from Naples' Vomero district, was formed in 1971. The group initially consisted of Lino Vairetti on vocals, Danilo Rustici on guitar, Massimo Guarino on drums, Lello Brandi on bass, and Elio D'Anna on flute and saxophone. Osanna gained attention for their theatrical performances featuring elaborate costumes and makeup. Their debut album L'uomo was released in 1971, followed by the soundtrack to the film Milano Calibro 9. In 1972, they embarked on a national tour with Genesis. The band's subsequent albums included Palepoli (1973), noted for its blend of Mediterranean sounds and progressive rock elements, and Landscape of Life (1974). Despite internal conflicts, Osanna released Suddance in 1978 before disbanding the following year. The group reformed in 1999, releasing Taka Boom and collaborating with notable figures like David Jackson on subsequent projects such as Prog Family.
