Biography

OPM, an American rock/pop band originating from Los Angeles, was formed in 1999. The original members were John E. Necro on vocals, Matthew Meschery on vocals and programming, and Geoff Turney on guitars. Initially known as Stash," the band changed their name to OPM, which stands for "Open People's Minds." Their debut album, Menace To Sobriety, was released in August 2000 on Atlantic Records and featured the hit single "Heaven Is A Halfpipe", which charted worldwide and won the Kerrang! Award for Best Single. The band performed "Heaven Is A Halfpipe" on Top of the Pops on July 20, 2001. Following the release of Menace To Sobriety, Matthew Meschery left the band in 2002 and was replaced by Big B. OPM signed to Suburban Noize Records and released their second album, ForThemAsses, in June 2004. The album featured guest appearances by reggae artists Yellowman and Eek-A-Mouse, along with Johnny Richter of the Kottonmouth Kings. In July 2006, OPM released their third album, California Poppy. Their fourth album, Golden State Of Mind, was released in September 2008. The band continued to release music, including the EP The Minge Dynasty in August 2015 and a re-release of Menace To Sobriety in September 2015 for its 15th anniversary.
