Mona Lisa, a French progressive rock band from Orléans, was formed in 1973. Their debut album, L'Escapade, was released in 1974 under the production of Jean-Michel Brézovar, who was also a guitarist for Ange. The band gained early recognition by performing as opening acts for Ange and incorporating theatrical elements into their live performances. Over the next few years, Mona Lisa released several albums, including Grimaces (1975), Le Petit Violon de monsieur Grégoire (1976), Avant qu'il ne soit trop tard (1977), and Vers demain (1978). The group separated and became inactive starting in 1980. After nearly two decades of inactivity, Mona Lisa reunited in 1998 with a new lineup that included members from Versailles. Their comeback album, De l'ombre à la lumière, was released in 1998 and marked their return to the music scene.
