Biography
Born Gianna Perez on 4 February 2000 in New Jersey, US, and primarily raised in Florida, the LBGTQAI+ indie-folk singer-songwriter known professionally as Gigi Perez, or simply gigi, first gained online notoriety in 2021 with her self-released debut single, the acoustic gem "Sometimes (Backwood)." The success of the track led to a deal with Mogul Vision/Interscope Records, and she released a cache of music with the label in 2022, including singles "The Man" and "When She Smiles," which were both contained on her debut 2023 EP, How to Catch a Falling Knife. She scored her big break the following year with the acoustic ballad "Sailor Song," which charted all over the world (number one in the UK), and cracked the US Billboard Hot 100. Signed by Island Records, she released her debut album At the Beach, in Every Life on April 2025, which entered Billboard 200 at number 96 , featuring other singles "Fable" and "Chemistry."
