Biography

The soulful R&B duo Changing Faces started when New York natives Cassandra Lucas and Charisse Rose toured in the early 1990s as back-up singers for Sybil. The two began working together, and their demos got them a record deal. The made a splash instantly with their debut single, the R. Kelly written and produced “Stroke You Up”, which climbed to number 2 on the R&B chart and number 3 on the pop chart. The follow-up, “Foolin’ Around” was another top 10 R&B hit, and peaked at 38 on the pop chart. The success of the singles helped catapult their debut LP, Changing Faces to the top of the R&B album chart. Their 1997 release All Day, All Night contained the top 10 pop and number 1 R&B hit “G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T.” After their third album, Visit Me, dropped in 2000, a legal battle ensued over the rights to the group’s recordings. What followed was a 13 year gap until their next release, the 2013 single “Hate Love”. The next year, the duo fell out when Rose wanted to bring her fiancé into the group. Both Lucas and Rose released solo albums, and then, in 2019, Lucas performed as Changing Faces with singer Reefy Scott.
