Modern Eon was a British post-punk/new wave band formed in Liverpool in 1978 by Alix Plain (Alex Johnson) and Danny Hampson. Initially named Luglo Slugs, they renamed to Modern Eon and released their track "Benched Down/70s Sixties" on the compilation Street to Street: A Liverpool Album. In 1979, they released an EP titled Pieces and the single "Euthenics" the following year for Inevitable Records. After lineup changes, Modern Eon signed with Dindisc and released their debut album Fiction Tales in 1981. Despite mixed initial reviews, the album received later acclaim. A tour followed but was cut short due to a serious injury to drummer Cliff Hewitt. Modern Eon disbanded at the end of 1981 while working on demos for a second album that never materialized.
