Biography
The Fixx, a British New Wave and rock band, was formed in 1979 in London. The group initially consisted of Cy Curnin on vocals, Rupert Greenall on keyboards, Adam Woods on drums, and Jamie West-Oram on guitar. They started as The Portrait, releasing two singles, "Little Women" (1979) and "Hazards In The Home" (1980), before renaming to The Fix in 1980 with the release of "Lost Planes". After signing with MCA Records, they changed their name to The Fixx due to concerns over drug connotations. Their debut album Shuttered Room was released in 1982, featuring the singles "Stand or Fall" and "Red Skies (at Night)". The band achieved significant success in North America with their second album Reach the Beach (1983), which included the hit single "One Thing Leads to Another", reaching number 3 on the Canadian charts and number 4 in the United States. Subsequent albums like Phantoms (1984) and Walkabout (1986) continued their success, particularly with hits like "Are We Ourselves?" and "Secret Separation". The Fixx's popularity waned after leaving MCA Records for RCA in 1987. They released several albums during the 1990s and early 2000s, including Elemental (1998) and Beautiful Friction (2012), with varying degrees of success.
