Biography

Mike Patton, born Michael Allan Patton on January 27, 1968 in Eureka, is an American vocalist and composer who emerged from the San Francisco Bay Area. He joined the band Faith No More in 1984, contributing to early singles such as "We Care a Lot" and "Epic" before the group signed to Warner Bros. Records. In 1989 the band released the album The Real Thing, and in 1992 the critically noted Angel Dust, featuring tracks like "Midlife Crisis"; both albums established the group on the Billboard 200. After the 1998 breakup of Faith No More, Mike Patton pursued side projects, forming Mr . Bungle and later Fantômas, and he co‑founded the label Ipecac Recordings in 1997, releasing Adult Themes for Voice (1996), Pranzo Oltranzista (1997), Hemophiliac (2002), Mondo Cane (2010), and Laborintus II (2012). He also composed soundtracks for the films A Perfect Place (2008), The Solitude of Prime Numbers (2011), The Place Beyond the Pines (2013), and 1922 (2018). Mike Patton remained active through collaborations with John Zorn, Tomahawk, and various video game voice roles. In 2025, he collaborated with Scott and Seth Avett, from the Avett Brothers, for the recording of the album AVTT/PTTN.
