Biography
Michiyo (born April 6, 1979 in Osaka Prefecture, raised in Mie Prefecture) is a Japanese singer and singer-songwriter who won the grand prize in the "Sharan Q Female Rock Vocalist Audition" of the TV program "ASAYAN" in 1997 and debuted as the first artist of Hello! Project's first artist. On November 5 of the same year, she released the single "GET" produced by Sharan-Q, and held an event at the Nippon Budokan the following day. In 2004, she changed her name from "Michiyo Heike" to "Michiyo" and restarted her career as a singer-songwriter who writes all her own lyrics and music. Throughout her independent career, she pursued her own musical style, releasing three albums, including the album "JECICA." In 2020, she released a single for distribution under the name "Michiyo," but announced her retirement in July 2021.
