Nicholas Carpenter, born May 10, 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia, is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who performs under the stage name Medium Build. He began songwriting in church, studied at Middle Tennessee State University, and interned at Disney Publishing while writing for his indie band Little Moses. He moved to Nashville at 21 and to Alaska in 2016, where he released the album Falling Apart. Subsequent releases include Softboy (2018), Roughboy (2018), Wild (2019), Health (2023), Country (2024), and takeaways (2025). His single "Cuz of U" (2023) and the collaboration "Friend for Life" with X Ambassadors debuted at Number 17 on Billboard Alternative Digital Song Sales. "Last Time" (2025) charted in December of that year in Top 40 Radio Adult Alternative Songs.
