Biography
Indie rock band with strong folk roots, Big Thief was born in Brooklyn, New York (USA) in 2015. Consisting of Adrianne Lenker (guitar, vocals), Buck Meek (guitar, backing vocals), Max Oleartchik (bass), and James Krivchenia (drums, keyboards), Big Thief inaugurated its discography in 2016 with the album Masterpiece. Without waiting, Big Thief returns to the studio to record a new opus, Capacity (2017), which is home to the single "Mary". The band's follow-up album, U.F.O.F., is released in 2019 and immediately catches on, topping the specialized Americana/folk charts in the U.S. (#142 on the Billboard 200). The album is nominated for a 2020 Grammy Award in the "Best Alternative Rock Album" category. Just a few months after the release of U.F.O.F., the prolific musicians of Big Thief return with the album Two Hands (2019). The album reached number 113 on the US album chart. When Big Thief returned in 2022 with the album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, it gave the band its highest Billboard position, at #31. In 2024, the quartet parted company with Max Oleartchik and hired Justin Felton for the live shows. The trio continued in 2025 with the EP Passional Relations and the album Double Infinity, featuring a guest appearance by Laraaji.
