Biography
Born Carolina Giraldo Navarro in MedellÃn, Colombia, on February 14, 1991, Latin trap and reggaeton singer Karol G first came to prominence on the talent show The X-Factor before continuing her studies and moving to New York to pursue her music career. It was with the duet âAmor de Dosâ, recorded in 2013 with Puerto Rican singer Nicky Jam, that she became a household name in her home country. She went on to release numerous singles, sometimes as duets with artists such as Andy Rivera, CNCO, Ozuna, Sebastián Yatra, Daddy Yankee, Bad Bunny, and Quavo, and didnât release her debut album, Unstoppable, until 2017. She collaborated notably with J Balvin in 2018 on the remix of âMi Camaâ and with Shaggy on âTu Pum Pumâ , followed in 2019 by the album Ocean . The third installment in her discography, KG0516, was released in 2021 and stood out for the success of several singles on international chartsâbut especially in Colombiaâincluding âBichotaâ (No. 2), âLocationâ featuring Anuel AA and J Balvin (No. 9), and âEl Makinonâ featuring Mariah Angeliq (No. 51). In 2023, the mixtape Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) was released, following the album Mañana Será Bonito (No. 1), which had come out a few months earlier. Featuring ten tracks and guest appearances by artists such as Peso Pluma, Chris MJ, Ryan Castro, Kali Uchis, Dei V, Young Miko, and Tiësto, the mixtape peaked at No. 77 in Canada but, more notably, reached No. 1 on the Spanish charts and No. 3 in the United States, where it also topped the Latin music charts. Her fifth album Tropicoqueta is set for release on June 20, 2025âa sonic journey that flirts with merengue, bachata, cumbia, and even flamenco, driven by the singles âSi Antes Te Hubiera Conocidoâ (June 2024) and âLatina Forevaâ (May 2025), the latter celebrating Latin American pride alongside guitarist José del Tomate. In November 2025, âSi Antes Te Hubiera Conocidoâ wins two Latin Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year. In 2026, Karol G headlined Coachella, where she debuted âDespués de Tiâ with Greg Gonzalez of Cigarettes After Sex, before announcing the Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour world tour. In May, she received the International Artist Award of Excellence and the award for Best Latin Album at the American Music Awards. The tour kicked off in July, and on August 7, Karol G released her sixth album, No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto, a more introspective project featuring collaborations with Drake, Bruno Mars, Greg Gonzalez, Judeline, and Rusowsky.
