Man/Woman/Chainsaw are a London-based art-rock collective blending theatrical intensity with razor-sharp musicianship, forging a sound thatâs equal parts cerebral and visceral. Emerging from the cityâs DIY scenes and art school undercurrents, the bandâcomprising Billy Ward (vocals, guitars), Emmie-Mae Avery (vocals/keys/synths), Vera Leppänen (vocals, bass), Clio Starwood (violin) and Lola Cherry (drums)âhave built a reputation for turning stages into battlegrounds, where performance art, glam-noise, and post-punk experimentation collide in electrifying fashion. Formed in 2021, the band draw from a broad palette of influences: the angular precision of Talking Heads, the menace of The Birthday Party, the decadence of early Roxy Music, and the raw catharsis of Sonic Youth. They released their debut single "Any Given Sunday" in 2022 and their debut EP Eazy Peazy in 2024. Several other singles have since followed, including 2025's "Adam & Steve" and "MadDog."
