Biography

American singer, songwriter and guitarist Madison Cunningham was born on October 14, 1996 in Escondido, California, not far from Los Angeles. Growing up in a large family with four sisters, she took up the guitar at the age of seven. She soon began writing her own lyrics and melodies, and released her debut album, Authenticity, at the age of 18 in 2014. She then imposed her universe blending Americana, folk-rock and chamber pop, but allowed herself time to mature before releasing the EP Love, Lose Remember, four years later in 2018, supported by several singles. But it was in 2019 that Madison Cunningham reached a new milestone, when she released a new EP called For the Sake of the Ryme, which was actually the antechamber to a new studio album, Who Are You Now. It earned the young woman a shower of critical acclaim and a nomination at the 2020 Grammy Awards for "Best Americana Album". In 2023, her third album Revealer won the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album of the previous year. Subsequently, Cunningham collaborates with Andrew Bird on Cunningham Bird (2024), featuring songs from their predecessors Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks' album Buckingham Nicks (1973) in their entirety. In 2025, she returned to solo work for the album Ace.
