Biography
MacKenzie Bourg (born on September 11, 1992) is an American singer-songwriter, mostly known for his involvement in singing competition TV series American Idol and The Voice. Hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana, Bourg seemed destined to be an athlete but a virus that caused him a congestive heart failure frustrated his dreams of becoming a professional basketball player. After his recovery, he decided to put all of his energy on music, and in 2012, he became a contestant on the third season of The Voice. Mentored by CeeLo Green (of Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley fame), Bourg was eliminated during the first week of the show. Not deterred by his elimination, he independently released âEveryoneâs Got a Storyâ (2013), his debut single, backed by a Kickstarter campaign. In 2016, he auditioned and made the cut for the fifteenth season of American Idol, where he wowed the judges with his original single âRosesâ and earned a spot among the Top 4. Following his elimination from the show, Bourg returned with the bubbly, urban-tinged singles âLost & Foundâ (2017), âPlayloveâ (2018), and âBigâ (2019).
