Terry McDermott, born 6â¯Augustâ¯1977 in Aberdeen, Scotland, is a singer who began his career in the Aberdeenâbased duo Driveblind, formed with guitarist Nick Tyler. The pair expanded into a full band and released the selfâtitled album Driveblind on 24â¯Octoberâ¯2006 through Geffen Records after signing with A&M and later Geffen. The group toured the United States, supporting acts such as the Foo Fighters and Candlebox, and issued the EP The Future You Were Promised in 2008. In 2009 Terry McDermott relocated to Newâ¯Orleans and formed Lotusâ¯Crush with former Candlebox members; the band debuted with Half Light Morning in Marchâ¯2011, which appeared at SXSW, and followed with Rabbit Hole in Marchâ¯2015, recorded at Robert Lang Studios. Terry McDermott gained international visibility as the runnerâup of Seasonâ¯3 of the American version of The Voice in 2012, where his performances of "Baba O'Riley" and "Carry On Wayward Son" attracted widespread attention; his single "Pictures" peaked at number one on the iTunes rock charts. He has performed the national anthem for the Newâ¯Orleans Pelicans and Saints, appeared on The Voiceâ¯Vietnam, and toured with his band Terryâ¯McDermottâ¯andâ¯Theâ¯Bonfires, releasing the EP Palmettoâ¯Heights on Fat Hippy Records in 2013.
