Love Equals Death was a punk rock band from Petaluma, California, formed on October 31, 2003. The initial lineup included vocalist Chon Travis, guitarist John Rosser, bassist Dominic Davi, and drummer Tonio Garcia-Romero. Their first release was the cover version of "Dammit Janet" in December 2003. Love Equals Death released their debut EP, 4 Notes on a Dying Scale, in January 2005, followed by The Hucklebuck EP in August. They signed to Fat Wreck Chords and released their full-length album, Nightmerica, on March 21, 2006. The band toured extensively across the United States and Europe, supporting acts like Pennywise and No Use for a Name. In March 2007, founding bassist Dominic Davi was arrested and dismissed from the band.
