Biography

Los Rakas are a bilingual hip-hop duo consisting of Panamanian cousins Raka Rich and Raka Dun, based in Oakland, California. Both members were raised in Panama before moving to the United States, where they met as teenagers. Their early music career began with producing mixtapes, including Panabay Twist (2006) and Panabay Twist 2: La Tanda Del Bus (2009). In 2010, they performed at Snoop Dogg's Smoke Out Festival. Los Rakas released their debut album, Chancletas y Camisetas Bordada, in 2011 and collaborated with Diplo on the track "Desorden". Their album, El Negrito Dun Dun & Ricardo (2014), featured a diverse range of genres. Notable collaborations include Blondie on the track "I Screwed Up" from their 2014 album Ghosts of Download. Los Rakas continued to release albums, including Raka Love 2 (2017) and Manes De Negocio (2019).
