Los MendÃvil was a Mexican grupero/ranchera group led by brothers Sergio MendÃvil and Jacinto MendÃvil, formed in 1997 after their departure from Sinaloaâs Grupo Libra. Over time, various members supported the MendÃvil brothers, including Gilberto Wong (keyboards), Raúl Camargo (bass), and Jesús Mendoza (drums), though the bandâs sound and identity remained centered on Sergio and Jacintoâs songwriting and dual vocals. The band came to prominence with its 1997 debut Si Dios Me Lleva Con Ãl, establishing a signature blend of sentimental lyrics, melodic keyboards, and norteño-inflected guitars. The follow-up Te Amo y Te Amaré (1998) cemented their popularity, generating hits such as âMi Destino Fue Quererte,â âAunque Pasen Los Años,â âVas a Pagar,â and âSuegra.â Through the turn of the millennium, Los MendÃvil expanded their reach with albums like Puras Rancheras and Las Huellas (2000), followed by El Amor de Mi Vida (2002), all of which earned strong radio play across northern and central Mexico. Their final studio release, Qué IronÃa (2005), marked the close of their first and most successful phase, after which the group officially disbanded the same year. After the breakup, Los MendÃvil remain connected with fans via social media and, beginning in 2024-25, have resumed live performancesâwith official announcements showing booked dates and active promotionâmarking a return to the stage for the bandâs original sound and repertoire.
