Biography

Los Hermanos Martinez Gil, consisting of Carlos and Pablo Martinez Gil, were born in Misantla, Veracruz, Mexico. They began their professional career as a guitar duo in 1930, debuting in Veracruz before moving to Mexico City. Their first composition, "La Jarochita", led to numerous successful songs including "Chacha Linda" and "Cachito de mi alma". They released several albums such as Recuérdame (1954) and Hermanos Martinez Gil (1972). Their compositions were performed by notable artists like Vicente Fernández. Carlos received the Virginia Fábregas Medal for 25 years of artistic activity, and the duo earned multiple gold and platinum records. They were founding members of the Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de México. Carlos died in 1972, and Pablo ceased performing, passing away in 1987.
