Biography
Carmela y Rafael was a romantic music duo formed in 1959 by Mexican singer and actress Carmela Rey and Mexican singer Rafael Vázquez. The duo recorded for labels such as RCA VÃctor, Musart, and GAS. They achieved success in the 1960s and 1970s, earning the title "La Pareja Romántica de México", which was also the name of one of their long-playing albums for Musart. Throughout their career, Carmela y Rafael released 121 albums and 1,998 songs. Notable achievements include winning Discos de Oro and Platino awards, the Calendario Azteca de Oro from the Asociación Mexicana de Periodistas de Radio y Televisión (AMPRyT), the Musart Records Golden Clover Award for high record sales in 1970, and the Record World award for best "Mixed Romantic Duo" in 1972.
