Biography

Looptroop Rockers, a Swedish hip-hop group from Västerås, was formed in 1991 by rappers Promoe and Embee. The group initially released cassette-only EPs such as Superstars (1993) and Threesicksteez (1995). In 1998, they established their own record label, David Vs. Goliath (DVSG) and released their debut album Modern Day City Symphony in 2000. The album featured the underground hit single "Long Arm of the Law". In 2005, Looptroop Rockers released Fort Europa, which included a critical track on Swedish immigration policy. Promoe launched his solo career in 2001 with Government Music and Embee won a Swedish Grammy Award for best hip-hop/soul in 2004 for Tellings From Solitaria. In 2008, the group released Good Things, collaborating with artists like Rakaa Iriscience of Dilated Peoples. Looptroop Rockers were inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame in 2017 and celebrated their 25th anniversary by releasing 25 new songs over 25 weeks that same year.
