Biography

Locas in Love are a German alternative rock group from Cologne, founded in 2001 by Björn Sonnenberg and Stefanie Schrank. After three EPs and a split single with Katze between 2001 and 2003, they released their first LP What Matters Is the Poem in 2004 and Saurus in 2007, the latter largely self‑produced and later issued by Virgin/EMI; the track "Sachen" reached the second spot on the Campuscharts. Subsequent releases included Winter (2008), Lemming (2011), NEIN! (2012), Use Your Illusion 3 & 4 (2015) and Kalender (2015), the last two issued through Staatsakt and Warner Music and the former charting at number 90 in Germany. The band worked with Malcolm Middleton, the daughters of Wolfgang Niedecken, and toured with Nikki Sudden and Okkervil River. After 2016, activity slowed, yet they continued recording at their Bear Cave Studio and released reissues of Saurus X (2017) and Winter (2023).
