Liberty X, originally known as Liberty, was a pop/R&B group formed in 2001 by five contestants from the UK edition of Popstars. The original lineup included Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, Michelle Heaton, Kelli Young, and Jessica Taylor. After finishing as runners-up on Popstars, they signed with V2 Records UK and released their debut single "Thinking It Over" in October 2001, which peaked at number 5 in the UK. Their second single, "Doin' It", was released in December 2001 but reached only number 14 in the UK. Following a legal dispute over their name with another group called Liberty, they changed their name to Liberty X and released their third single "Just A Little" in October 2002, which topped the UK charts and became the best-selling single of 2002. Their debut album Thinking It Over was released in November 2002 and sold over 1 million copies in the UK alone. The group's subsequent albums include Being Somebody (2003), X (2005), and Got To Have Your Love. Notable singles from these albums include "Being Nobody" (2003) and "A Night to Remember" (2005). Despite their early success, Liberty X disbanded in 2008. The group reunited for a series of live shows between 2012 and 2014 and continued to perform without Lundon and Simm in the following years.
