Leslie Arthur Julien Hutchinson, known as Hutch, and born on March 7, 1900, in Gouyave, Grenada, was a singer and musician. He began playing piano at an early age and moved to New York in 1916 to study medicine, where he started performing in bars. In New York, Hutchinson joined a group led by Henry "Broadway" Jones and performed for wealthy families. He later moved to Paris in 1924, becoming a resident performer at Joe Zelli's club and befriended Cole Porter. By 1927, Hutch had relocated to England, becoming a favorite of the British aristocracy and the general public. His version of "These Foolish Things" was one of his notable successes. Hutchinson recorded several songs by Cole Porter, including "Begin the Beguine" and "Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love)". Hutch faced racial prejudice despite his popularity. He passed away on August 18, 1969, in London.
