Justin Vivian Bond, born on May 9, 1963 in Hagerstown, Maryland, is an American singer-songwriter and actor. Bond began their career in theater, studying at Adelphi University from 1981 to 1985. Their breakthrough came with the stage duo Kiki and Herb, created with Kenny Mellman, where Bond portrayed the character Kiki DuRane. The duo gained prominence in New York City, performing extensively and receiving critical acclaim. Notable performances include Have Another (1999), which earned a GLAAD media award in 2000. Bond's solo work includes the album Dendrophile (2011) and the EP Christmas Spells (2015). Throughout their career, Bond has received numerous awards, including a Tony nomination in 2007, GLAAD Award (2000), Obie Award (2001), Bessie Award (2004), Ethyl Award (2007), and a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists (2012). Bond was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2024.
