Biography

Leif Rune Kenneth Elggren is a Swedish conceptual artist and composer born on January 7, 1950, in Linköping. He specialized in drawing and book printing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm before establishing a professional career in the mid-1970s with the performance group Vesuvius. In 1978, Elggren formed the duo Firework with Thomas Liljenberg and later founded the Firework Edition publishing company. Elggren’s recording career featured the debut solo album Flown Over by an Old King (1988). Key solo works included Talking to a Dead Queen (1996) and Pluralis Majestatis (2000). He also performed in the duo The Sons of God with Kent Tankred, focusing on themes of violence and royalty. Elggren co-founded the micronation Kingdoms of Elgaland-Vargaland with Carl Michael von Hausswolff and curated the Nordic Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2001. His art combined audio and visual elements, ranging from electronics to harsh noise.
