Biography

Red Temple Spirits were an American post-punk band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1987. The original lineup included vocalist William Faircloth, guitarist Dallas Taylor, bass guitarist Dino Paredes, and drummer Thomas Pierik. Inspired by Roky Erickson's song "Two Headed Dog (Red Temple Prayer)", the band released their debut double-LP set Dancing to Restore an Eclipsed Moon in 1988 on Nate Starkman & Son, followed by If Tomorrow I Were Leaving for Lhasa, I Wouldn't Stay a Minute More... in 1989. Their sole single, "New Land" / "Exodus from Lhasa", was released in 1989 to benefit Tibet House. Their promo video for "City of Millions" aired on MTV's 120 Minutes. They toured the United States in early 1990 but disbanded in 1992 following a van accident. Guitarist Dallas Taylor died on February 10, 2023.
