Lab Report was an experimental musical group formed in 1989 in Chicago, United States of America. The band consisted of Matthew Schultz, Eric Pounder and Chris Blazen. Lab Report gained early notoriety as one of the pioneering dark ambient projects emerging from the industrial music genre. The group signed with Invisible Records in 1990 and released their debut album Figure X-71. They followed this with Unhealthy (1993), Terminal (1995), and Excision (1997). Lab Report was known for incorporating the sculptural dulcimer instrument, the A.T.G. or Anti Tank Guitar, created by Matthew Schultz. The band's lineup frequently rotated, featuring notable guests such as Genesis P-Orridge and Lydia Lunch. After releasing three more albums with Gein Records (All Your Little Pieces Make Me Whole, -Classical -Atmospheres, and 2000 After Death Live) the project expanded into multimedia.
