Laura Betti, born Laura Trombetti on May 1, 1927, in Casalecchio di Reno, near Bologna, Italy, was an actress, singer, and director. She began her career as a jazz singer and moved to Rome for professional opportunities. Her first known release was the single "Les Pantoufles à Papa" in 1957. Betti's early albums included La Commedia à Finita in 1958, followed by Laura Betti Con L'Orchestra Di Piero Umiliani in 1960 and several EPs throughout the 1960s. She also released two albums dedicated to Kurt Weill's compositions: Kurt Weill 1900-1933 and Kurt Weill 1933-1950, both in 1963. Betti continued her musical career with releases such as Gabriella, I Suoi Amici... E Tanto Folk in 1972. She passed away on July 31, 2004.
