Tele, a German rock group originating from Freiburg, was founded in the early 2000s by Patrick Reising and Stefan Wittich under the working title Eschholz; the ensemble later expanded to five members and relocated to Berlin in 2002. Their first selfâreleased album, 1001 Verdacht (2000), showcased an indieâguitar sound that evolved into postârock arrangements, drawing subtle 1980s influences through keyboard and synth arrangements. In 2004, under Universal Music, the band issued the single "Es Kommt Ein Schiff" (28 March 2005) and the album Wovon Sollen Wir Leben (4 October 2004), which featured Germanâlanguage pop songs describing personal narratives. The following year they released the single "Mario" (9 February 2007) and the album Wir brauchen nichts (23 February 2007), both produced by Patrik Majer, and represented BadenâWürttemberg at the Bundesvision Song Contest, placing tenth. Teleâs third Universal release, Jedes Tier (5 June 2009), was produced in collaboration with Moses Schneider, Pascal El Sauaf, and Peter Schmidt, and they returned to Tapete Records for the live album Jedes Tour Live (2011). The band continued touring, including a GoetheâInstitute tour across Africa in 2006, and contributed to various compilations and collaborations with artists such as Judith Holofernes and Francesco Wilking, solidifying their presence in the German alternative rock scene.
