Biography

Lasse Lönndahl, born Lars Gunnar Lönndahl on August 19, 1928, in Stockholm, Sweden, was a Swedish singer and actor. His breakthrough came in 1949 with his first record, "Tangokavaljeren", which reached number 2 in Sweden. Throughout the 1950s, Lönndahl became one of the leading figures in popular music, scoring 12 number 2 hit singles and making several movies. In the 1960s, he achieved his first Number 1 single on the Swedish chart Svensktoppen with "Midnattstango" (1962), which stayed in the charts for 18 weeks. Between 1962 and 1972, Lönndahl had 35 songs on the chart. Notable hits include "Ett vänligt litet ord" (1954) with Ingrid Almquist and "Kärleksbrev i sanden" (1957). Lönndahl was awarded the Illis quorum in 1993. He passed away on December 26, 2022, at the age of 94.
