Biography

La Barbería del Sur, a Spanish music group, was formed in 1991 by Enrique Heredia Negri on vocals and Juan José Suárez on guitar, son of the cantaor extremeño Ramón el Portugués. The band's music was known for their fusion of flamenco with various genres such as jazz, bossa nova, pop, and funk. Their debut album, La Barbería del Sur, was released in 1991. Throughout their career, they collaborated with notable artists including Pepe Luis Carmona, David Amaya "El Ardilla," and José Miguel Carmona from Ketama. Their album Arte Pop, released in 1998, featured the hit song "Alegría de vivir", a cover of Ray Heredia’s work.
