Biography
Kinniku ShÅjo Tai â also known as King-Show â is a hard rock / metal band formed in Tokyo, Japan in 1982. Founded by vocalist Kenji Åtsuki and bassist YÅ«ichirÅ Uchida, the groupâs origins began when they formed their first band, Dotechins, while still in Junior High School. After playing with several different musicians over the next few years â including original guitarist Tommy Takahashi and drummer Naoto Suzuki - the band changed their name to Kinniku ShÅnen ShÅjo Tai before finally settling on Kinniku ShÅjo Tai in 1982. The band released their debut independent album, Nororo no NÅzui Densetsu, in 1985 and followed that with the EP Nozomi Kanae Tamae in 1987. The bandâs popularity began to rise and they signed a deal with Toyâs Factory Records and released the album Buddha L in 1988, which became their first commercially successful album. While the bandâs membership would change over time â with only vocalist Åtsuki and bassist Uchida remaining the only two core members - Kinniku ShÅjo Tai continued to release hit albums such as Sister Strawberry (1988), GekkÅ-chu (1990), Danzai! Danzai! Mata Danzai! (1991), UFO to Koibito (1993), Stacy no Bijutu (1996), and Saigo no Seisen (1997). However, by 1998, the band began falling apart as various members left and they finally split when singer Åtsuki left in 1999. After several years, the group members reconciled and announced that they were reforming in 2006. Since their reformation, theyâve released a series of studio albums - including Shinjin (2007), Season 2 (2009), Tuta Karamaru Q no Wakusei (2010), The Show Must Go On (2014), and Omake no Ichinichi (2015) - plus several compilations including DaikÅshiki 2 (2008) and For a Moment (2023).
