BY-SEXUAL was a rock band that dominated the Visual-kei scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band consists of four members: vocalist SHO (born August 25, 1970 in Osaka Prefecture), guitarist RYÖ (born August 14, 1970 in Osaka Prefecture), bassist DEN (born June 10, 1970 in Osaka Prefecture), and drummer NAO (born July 7, 1970 in Osaka Prefecture). They released a demo "Bad Boy Blues" in 1988, and made their major label debut in 1990 with the single "SO BAD BOY". The band's song "Bakumatsu Junjoden" was used as the theme for the 1991 movie of the same name, which sold over 100,000 copies. The band's catchy punk rock sound and flashy visuals made them explosively popular, and they were also widely active in the media, appearing on variety shows, etc. On September 18, 1992, they released their ninth single , "DEEP KISS. After SHO left the band in 1995, the band changed its name to BY-SEX and went on hiatus, but in 2011, the band returned for a one-night-only revival with the original members to raise money for earthquake charities. In 2011, the band was revived for one night only with the original members.
