Armed with a velvety voice and a knack for writing sultry romantic ballads, Keith Washington (born on November 15, 1960) dominated the charts in the early 90s with his suave brand of contemporary R&B. Washington made his official debut in 1991 with Make Time For Love, which went straight to the top of Billboardâs Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and spawned the massive hit âKissing You.â Besides topping Billboardâs Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for one week, the track was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best R&B Vocal Performance Male and earned Washington a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Single â Male. âIf You Were With Me Now,â a duet with Australian singer Kylie Minogue, was also featured on the album and was Washingtonâs only single to ever chart in the UK, reaching an impressive Number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. He followed up with You Make It Easy (1993) and kw (1998) which, despite a modest performance in the R&B charts with the track âBring It Onâ, failed to meet the success of the balladeerâs early output. In subsequent years, Washington transitioned to radio, becoming the host of Kisses After Dark on his native Detroitâs WDMK-FM 105.9.
