Biography

Dave Hollister is known for being a member of successful '90s R&B group Blackstreet, before going on to have a successful solo career in his own right. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he established himself as the lead vocalist on Blakk Society's 'Just Another Lonely Day' and provided backing vocals for a string of other artists with his soulful voice in high demand, and appeared on the 'Boyz N the Hood' (1991) soundtrack as part of Force One Network. In 1993 he joined Blackstreet and performed on their platinum-selling, self-titled debut album. Hollister departed two years later in order to pursue his solo career and songwriting. His first two albums - 'Ghetto Hymns' and 'Chicago '85... the Movie' - were certified gold upon release. After briefly signing to Motown for the release of 'Things in the Game Done Changed' (2002), the Chicagoan changed to a more gospel-inspired sound on 2006 release 'The Book of David, Vol. 1: The Transition' which had great success on the Billboard gospel charts. Hollister has continued to perform and preach secular music ever since.
