Biography

Kang Su-ji, born on May 20, 1967, in Seoul, South Korea, is a singer known for her contributions to pop music. At the age of 16, she immigrated to New York with her parents and later returned to South Korea at 23 to debut as a singer after winning the Gold Prize at the East American Leg of MBC's College Music Festival in 1989. Her debut album, Violet Fragrance, was released in April 1990, marking the beginning of her successful music career. Throughout the 1990s, Kang Su-ji released several notable albums including Scattered Days (1991), Do You Know My Heart? (1992), and Then You'll Know (1993). Her hit singles such as "Violet Fragrance," "Scattered Days," and "You'll Know Then" solidified her status in the Korean music industry. In 1994, she expanded her career into the Japanese market with various singles and a compilation album titled Self Selection. Kang Su-ji also hosted radio programs such as Kang Su-ji's Memories from 2013 to 2014. The single "Summer Night's Dream (Acoustic Live Ver.)," released on August 20, 2025, reached rank 22 on Melon's Top 500 Domestic Chart the day it was released.
