Kim Jong-seo (born February 23, 1965 in Seoul) is a renowned South Korean rock musician recognized for his powerful vocals and contributions to the development of Korean rock. He debuted in 1985 as a member of the band Boohwal and later performed with several influential groups, including Sinawe, Charisma, and Little Sky, before launching his successful solo career. In 1992, Kim released his first solo album Rethona, which featured memorable tracks such as âHappiness in the Pocketâ and âHidden Tears.â He continued to build his reputation with numerous releases, including the acclaimed 2001 album Odyssey, which showcased his versatility and songwriting depth. Over his career, he has released 19 solo albums, blending dynamic rock sounds with emotional lyrics, and has also contributed to the first, second, and fourth albums by Seo Taiji and Boys, further expanding his influence across Koreaâs music scene. Beyond his musical achievements, Kim Jong-seo is a strong advocate for environmental awareness. Appointed as Seoulâs Ambassador for Environment, he released the single âStarâs Storyâ in 2009, addressing light pollution and the loss of visible night skies in cities. That same year, he performed at the United Nations Anniversary event in New York, demonstrating both his artistry and social commitment on an international stage.
